Types of fiber I'm interested in
Ecospun (plastic bottles)
Ingeo (corn)
Tencel (wood pulp)
Seacell (wood/seaweed)
There are two types of seacell, pure and active. Active contains silver in the fiber.
Sasawashi (paper and a japanese herb)
Silver
Soy silk (tofu byproduct)
Faux cashmere (nylon)
Bamboo

Misnomer?
How was it determined that soysilk, faux cashmere and faux angora are vegetarian or vegan? I don't know anyone that eats wool. In fact, wool is a renewable resource and considered "green". Hmmmmm.

Traveling Woman Shawl
The start to my Traveling Woman shawl. Its being knitted in my handspun, navajo plyed BFL I bought at Canby 2 years ago. I split the colors up and spun each, one at a time, so that I would get a rainbow effect.

Skirt
I never wore this skirt because the flower was pink. So I colored it black (looks purple) so that I would wear. Much cuter

Single ply bfl
I dyed this up a couple days ago. The black and red I mixed up reacted to the wool, and would not wash out (washed and dried 4 times) I ended up hand combing those sections out. So my singles are not as even as I wanted, but passable. Should have it navajo plyed by tonight or mid tomorrow.

It doesn't look like much yet
These are the knee high socks I'm working on. The yarn is my own handspun 2-ply merino/alpaca. I'd like to take credit for the color, but I bought the roving 2 yrs ago at canby. Its from the same person whose roving was turned into my husbands camo socks. Its a dream to knit with. I have over 1000 yards for this project. I'm also using my new signature needles for the first time. Love the stiletto tips, but wish they were more slippery (like my steel needles). I can't wait for circulars, since I can't totally see using them for knitting lace. Btw: thanks honey for the needles !

Busy Weekend
Finished spinning and plying hand dyed BFL (two ply), spun up 1000 yards of soy silk and dyed up some new BFL - so it will be ready to spin later this week.
Will get pictures post soon.

Sock yarn
See that little blob of yarn sitting on top of the larger skein? I spun that a year ago, then ran out before finishing my husbands socks. The skein sitting under it was spun this month. I can barely tell a difference, can you? Does this make me an accomplished spinner? Now I can finish his socks, finally!

100% Soy Silk Handspun
I spun this soy silk up for my mom. She bought this roving in alaska while on vacation. There is about 620yards of fingering weight. I didn't hate spinning it, but definitely different than wool. Will make a great shawl or scarf. I have another 4.5 oz to spin up.

I had a Martha Stewart day
I've been listening to Caston, a podcast about knitting. Today I listened to two episodes (only 75 more to go) while adding the sleeves (finally) to my Camden sweater.
Later, I canned sweet and dill pickles, then made a wonderful dinner of corn on the cob (from the neighbor), bacon wrapped asparagus, and Caesar salad.
Pretty great day.
